Kick wheel throwing
Alongside functional and sculptural slip-cast ceramics, my background lies in wheelthrown ceramics. After acquiring a kick wheel, I practiced developing a new rhythm and aesthetic language of form and surface pattern. I am now most interested in producing functional forms which are my own most used and loved dishes at home while also exploring softer ambiguous archetypal forms that can serve purposes, such as pouring or holding. The practice of wheelthrowing for me exercises traditional skills of tactility and form on the surface, and reflection on the personal and cultural impacts of dining culture as reflected in tableware.
