Sediments of Summer. Levyhalli, Suomenlinna, Finland 2026.
I had a couple days before leaving Helsinki to make a piece inspired by an excerpt by the curator Amado Pena. Excerpt:
"A woman walks into a courtyard of a living residence that has been reduced to rubble. The woman enters and finds a fig tree that has one fig hanging from the
branches. She walks to the tree and sleeps beneath it."
Not knowing the height of the beams and space, I made pieces that would balance on opposite ends of rope that could be wrapped-to-height. On one side, a bell in F# and on the other 2158 grams of ceramic waste. The ceramic waste was collected from different ceramic artists in Helsinki and formed in plaster molds. The bell was thrown on thewheel.
